Like most things in life, learning never ends – even after you’ve earned a doctorate! It’s actually one of the things I love most about dentistry. The continual advances in care options and techniques using technology that is designed to increase patient comfort and care is exciting.

I’ve recently completed a fantastic course with the Oregon Academy of General Dentistry called  Implants for the General Dentist. It’s an incredibly detailed course agenda that covered surgical implant placement & bone grafting, surgical techniques, and hard and soft tissue management. While I enjoyed the material, which covered treatment planning for extraordinary and predictable results, I most interested in the way updated techniques give the highest standard of care, and technology like 3D digital bone scanning CAT scans make outcomes so much better for patients.

I loved the hands-on training – and because I also love building relationships with my patients, I am thrilled that I can combine these loves. This course provided the unique opportunity to have my patients come to OHSU School of Dentistry to have their treatments completed with the mentorship and my colleagues present!

It’s a critical part of my practice philosophy to help my family of patients achieve and maintain the highest level of oral health that supports a healthy body. Tooth loss can not only affect what you can eat but can also lower self-esteem and cause a prematurely aged appearance.

Dental implants remove these issues. They act just like your old teeth did, protect your jawbone health, and when the restoration is placed on the implant, the only way others will know if you have one … is if you tell them.
