Biolase Dental Laser
Here at Total Health Dental in Tigard, OR we are always looking for solutions that will save our patients time and money. We understand that the last thing that you want to do is spend more time sitting in the examination chair, which is why we work so hard to find new, proven dental technologies that save our patients time and money. The Biolase dental laser saves your patients time in the examination chair, but it doesn’t end there. It also saves them recovery time, where procedures performed with traditional methods and tools require up to twice the recovery time of the biolase dental laser.
What is the Biolase dental laser?
The Biolase dental laser is a tool that allows us to replace traditional cutting tools like the scalpel, with a more advanced and more precise technology. The Biolase dental laser uses a high powered beam of light to accomplish what we use to have to use a scalpel to do. Dental lasers produce a cleaner, more precise cut, with significantly less blood, and a much faster recovery time than a scalpel. Laser dentistry is something that can significantly improve the treatments of our patients, and we are very excited to tell you how it can help you!
The Biolase Advantage
There are a lot of great advantages that the Biolase dental laser gives us over traditional cutting technologies, like the scalpel. Using the Biolase dental laser we can:
||Aids in various oral surgery procedures.
||Undergo periodontal surgery without bleeding, the need for needles, less bleeding, and zero stitches.
||No serious recovery issues. Following surgery, with the Biolase, you will have no problem talking, eating, or drinking.
||Keep the surgical site sterile from the beginning of the procedure to the end.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
Gum and periodontal disease are serious oral health concerns that need to be addressed as soon as we find them. The bacteria that live in your mouth can cause problems like cavities when it is allowed to build up. That same bacteria can infect your gums with periodontal disease, which can lead to issues like bad breath, loose teeth, bleeding gums, and even tooth loss. Before the Biolase dental laser, we would treat periodontal disease by removing infected portions of the gums with a scalpel, and finish the surgery by placing stitches along the gum line.
The Biolase dental laser gives us a way to avoid the bleeding, infection, and stitches that came with a scalpel. It even mitigates the discomfort associated with traditional gum surgery treatments.
The Biolase dental laser can help in a wide variety of oral surgery procedures that we must perform on a day to day basis. If you have what is commonly referred to as a “gummy smile,” we can remove some of the excess gum tissue from around each tooth, giving them a more traditional look.
The Biolase can even help to aid in the regeneration of gum tissue that is affected by gum disease. We simply alter a few setting on the machine and then pass a lower intensity beam of light over your infected gums, and it will stimulate healthy tissue to grow!
